Gorakhpur: Madan Mohan Malaviya University of Technology (MMMUT) will adopt 100 tuberculosis (TB) patients as part of the programmes being organised to mark Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s 76th birthday on Sept 17, said the university.The initiative aims to support the national campaign for a TB-free India by providing nutritional and emotional assistance to the patients undergoing treatment. Under the programme, university officers, heads of departments and faculty members will adopt identified TB patients and extend support throughout their treatment period.The adopted patients will receive ‘Poshan Potli’—nutritional kits designed to supplement their diet—for up to six months. Faculty members and university officials will also encourage patients to adhere to their medication schedules and complete the full course of treatment. The programme seeks to provide emotional support to patients and their families while promoting treatment compliance.MMMUT has identified 100 TB patients for adoption. The initiative will be led by vice-chancellor Prof Anupama Kaushik Sharma and will involve senior university functionaries, including registrar CP Priyadarshi, controller of finance Vinay Kumar Rai and several faculty members.University officials said the programme is being undertaken in line with a communication received from Raj Bhavan and reflects the institution’s commitment to social responsibility and community welfare.Through the initiative, MMMUT aims to complement govt efforts to eliminate tuberculosis by ensuring nutritional support and sustained encouragement for patients until their recovery.
