Patna: The state govt has approved construction of two high-level RCC bridges over the Kiul and Suknar rivers in Jamui district at a total cost of Rs 149 crore. Road construction department secretary Pankaj Kumar Pal said the projects would facilitate the transformation of NH-333A and ease travel on the Khaira-Sono route.A 16 x 29.85-metre RCC bridge will be built over the Kiul at Nariana Ghat at a cost of Rs 93 crore. Another, measuring 9 x 29.85 metres, will be constructed near Mangobandar over the Suknar river at a cost of Rs 55 crore, replacing the old and damaged bridge.Pal said the existing bridges posed accident risks and hampered heavy vehicle movement. The new structures would ensure safer, uninterrupted traffic and reduce travel time and fuel consumption.He said NH-333A was a vital link between Bihar and Jharkhand and the bridges would boost trade and transport between Jamui and neighbouring districts, including Munger, Lakhisarai and Banka.The projects would also speed up the movement of ambulances to hospitals during emergencies and help farmers and small traders transport produce to wholesale markets and urban centres more efficiently.
