Patna: Bihar Regiment Centre (BRC) on Saturday observed the 33rd Raising Day of the 24 Rashtriya Rifles (RR) Battalion at the Danapur Cantonment with military traditions and patriotic fervour.The battalion was raised on Aug 1, 1994, under the leadership of Col Umed Singh. Over the years, it has earned recognition for its role in counter-insurgency operations and for displaying courage, commitment and professionalism in challenging operational environments, BRC commandant Brig Rakesh Kumar Bora said.The battalion’s personnel have been decorated with several prestigious gallantry awards, including the Kirti Chakra, Shaurya Chakra, Sena Medal and commendation cards for their courage, dedication to duty and supreme sacrifice.On the occasion, Brig Bora paid tributes to the brave soldiers and martyrs at Veer Smriti Sthal. Recalling the battalion’s achievements and sacrifices, he lauded its personnel for their unwavering commitment to the nation.The programme featured a solemn tribute ceremony followed by a performance by the Army Band, which played patriotic tunes, including Vande Mataram, creating an atmosphere of pride and patriotism.Among those present were Lt Col Ankur Kumar Mishra, Subedar Major Sanjay Singh and other officers and personnel of the Danapur Cantonment. The gathering commemorated the battalion’s glorious journey and reaffirmed its commitment to upholding the highest traditions of the Indian Army.
