Experts stress on early savings, investing at GEC programme

Ara: Government Engineering College (GEC), Bhojpur, under the department of science, technology and technical education, on Thursday organised a financial literacy programme in collaboration with IIM Bodh Gaya to promote financial awareness and responsible financial decision-making among engineering students.The programme was inaugurated by principal Anamika, dean Pankaj Srivastava, IIM Bodh Gaya project manager Abhinav Verma and GEC Bhojpur training and placement officer Amritanshu Raushan.Highlighting the importance of financial literacy in today’s competitive world, Srivastava urged students to begin saving and investing early. “The power of compounding can work wonders in wealth creation,” he said.The keynote session was delivered by Verma, who conducted a 30-minute interactive presentation on personal finance, budgeting, savings, mutual funds and smart investing.He also discussed investor protection and the role of the Securities and Exchange Board of India (SEBI) in safeguarding investors’ interests.
