Patna: Former Bihar MLA, doctor and RJD functionary Dr Sanjeev Kumar allegedly received a death threat in the name of the Bishnoi Gang via social media on Friday night. The sender demanded Rs 1 crore in extortion and threatened him and his entire family with serious consequences if the money was not paid. Dr Sanjeev, who was earlier an MLA from Parbatta assembly constituency in Khagaria district, lodged a written complaint at Kankarbagh police station in Patna in this regard on Saturday.According to the complaint, at around 9:22 pm on July 24, Dr Sanjeev received a WhatsApp message from an unknown number. The sender claimed to be linked to the ‘Bishnoi Gang’ and demanded Rs 1 crore in extortion.He said that when he replied to the threatening message, he received an automatic AI reply on social media.

“I suspect that the threat may have been sent using a fake or automated account,” he said.He has requested police to conduct a technical investigation of the mobile number, identify the person behind the threat and take legal action. He has also appealed for security for himself and his family.A copy of the complaint has also been sent to Bihar DGP Vinay Kumar and Patna SSP Kartikey K Sharma.Kankarbagh SHO Abhay Kumar said, “It is not yet clear whether the threat is genuinely linked to any organised criminal gang or if someone used the gang’s name to demand extortion. The real identity of the sender and the truth behind the matter will come out only after investigation.”
