Patna: Darbhanga Municipal Corporation deputy mayor Nazia Hasan has landed in trouble after being named in an FIR in connection with violence and disruption of law and order during the students’ protest in the Laheriasarai police station area on Friday. Police said the investigation is underway and action will be taken on the basis of available evidence.The development comes amid the circulation of two viral videos linked to the protest, which are now being examined by investigators.According to Darbhanga police, one video shows Hasan uprooting a bamboo stick from the roadside and holding it during the protest. While social media users have claimed the footage is from the protest violence, police said the authenticity and context of the video are yet to be verified and no conclusions will be drawn before the inquiry is completed.

The second video shows Hasan addressing protesters. In the clip, she is heard saying that permission for the agitation had been granted only up to Laheriasarai Tower Chowk and urging participants not to move towards Lohia Chowk. She also warns that police action could follow if the crowd violates the permitted route.Police said the video will also form part of the investigation.Confirming the FIR, Sadar SDPO Rajiv Kumar said cases have been registered against 54 named persons and 500 unidentified individuals in connection with the July 24 protest. He added that 32 accused have been sent to jail so far.Officials said the role of all those involved in the protest is being examined and further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing probe.
