Patna: Railway administration maintained heightened security at major stations under the East Central Railway (ECR) on Saturday in view of the state-wide bandh called by left-wing student organisations following the recent police action against protesting students in Patna.ECR principal chief security commissioner-cum-IG, RPF, Amaresh Kumar said additional security personnel were deployed at Patna Junction and other busy stations, to prevent any untoward incident and ensure the safety of passengers. Train services continued to operate normally under close monitoring, he said adding that all necessary measures were taken to ensure the safety of passengers and prevent any disruption to rail operations.

Railway Protection Force (RPF) and Government Railway Police (GRP) personnel were put on alert and directed to maintain strict vigil across station premises. Security personnel were deployed at entry and exit points, platforms and other sensitive locations, while officials closely monitored passenger movement to prevent any attempt to disrupt railway operations.Patna Junction was brought under drone surveillance and RPF deployment was increased at sensitive stations across the ECR zone. CCTV monitoring was intensified at all major stations and additional forces were stationed at vulnerable locations. “All precautionary measures have been taken to safeguard railway property and passengers. Continuous monitoring is being carried out to ensure train services remain unaffected,” Kumar said.The railway administration appealed to passengers to cooperate with security personnel and immediately report any suspicious activity. A control room was functioning round the clock to monitor the situation across the ECR zone in coordination with the GRP and district administration. Mobile RPF quick response teams (QRTs) were also deployed at Patna Junction and other stations to handle any emergency.
