Pune: Passengers who feel that they are being overcharged by private bus operators during the Ganeshotsav festival can complain about the same on “8275330201” besides sending an e-mail on the same at “mh12prosecution.rtopune@gmail.com”, Pune RTO officials said on Friday.While launching a drive against the practice which start from Friday and will continue till Sept 26, officials said users needed to provide their name, mobile number, ticket photograph and details of the complaint. “Instructions have been given to the flying squads to take action against private tourist and contract buses that charge fares higher than the govt-approved rates,” Pune RTO Archana Gaikwad said.“Private bus owners and drivers have been instructed to follow the fare rules prescribed by the MSRTC for the relevant category of bus. Accordingly, a private contract bus cannot charge more than 50% above the applicable MSRTC fare for the corresponding category of bus. Bus owners must ensure that their vehicles are in proper condition and all vehicle documents must be valid. Violations will invite penal action,” the official added.
