Patna: The National Investigation Agency (NIA) on Wednesday searched two flats in an apartment complex in Patna’s Chitragupta Nagar in connection with a case related to the attack on the RSS office in Ranchi.This was the second NIA search at the apartment complex in three days. The agency had conducted a search there on Sept 7, but the flats were locked at the time. During Wednesday’s operation, a woman was reportedly found with around Rs20 lakh in cash. The income tax department was informed about the cash, according to police.Sadar SDPO-1 Manoj Kumar said the NIA was conducting the searches based on inputs related to the Ranchi RSS office attack. He said Sandeep Gupta, a resident of Gopalganj, was linked to the premises being searched. Gupta was detained by the NIA in Delhi and brought to Patna to facilitate the search and collection of evidence, he said.“The raid is still underway. The NIA is collecting evidence in connection with the Ranchi case. The two flats being searched. While one is directly linked to Gupta, the other is registered in the name of a company but is connected to him as he has been residing there,” Kumar said.The NIA team included additional SP Amrendra Tiwari of its Ranchi team, along with search personnel and sub-inspectors. Chitragupta Nagar SHO Shankar Jha and his team assisted the NIA during the operation, police said.On June 17, two men allegedly hurled petrol bombs at the RSS office in Nivaranpur, Ranchi, around 12.30am, according to police. CCTV footage reportedly showed the suspects approaching the premises before throwing the bombs and fleeing. No injuries or major damage were reported in the incident.
