Pune: Two drug addicts allegedly assaulted a Government Railway Police (GRP) constable on Sanjay Gandhi Road near Pune railway station around 1.30am on Tuesday.The two drug addicts were detained later and a complaint was lodged. Senior inspector Santosh Pandhare of Bund Garden police said, “The GRP’s constable, Akshay Bombale (28), suffered injuries to his neck. The suspects used a long blade to assault Bombale.”“Bombale was in civil dress while patrolling the railway tracks and platforms. After his duty, he headed towards his home in Sadashiv Peth. He spotted the two drug addicts whom he had shooed away a few days ago after warning them not to visit the railway area and decided to shoo them once again,” Pandhare said.“On reaching the footpath site, he found them consuming drugs. When he told them to leave the spot, the duo charged at him with the blade and assaulted him. Bombale suffered a long cut injury to his neck. Doctors have administered him two stitches,” Pandhare added.
