MU seeks governor’s nod to hold finance committee meet

Gaya: Magadh University (MU) has sought permission from governor-cum-chancellor Syed Ata Hasnain to convene a finance committee meeting for approval of its 2026-27 budget. The budget process has been delayed since the post of vice-chancellor fell vacant on Feb 14.While appointing Dilip Kumar Kesari as officiating vice-chancellor, the chancellor imposed restrictions on his powers, requiring prior approval to convene meetings of statutory bodies such as the senate syndicate, academic council, affiliation committee and finance committee.MU registrar Binod Kumar Mangalam said clearance for the finance committee meeting would pave the way for budget approval, as permission has already been granted to convene other statutory bodies. He expressed hope that the approval would be received soon.Dismissing concerns over the delay, Mangalam said the university’s financial transactions would not be affected as an advance copy of the budget had already been submitted to the state govt. There was, therefore, no cause for concern, he added.
